obviously i'm having ex cult issues, family still in and a wife that's all kokoo for cocopuffs as well as our marriage isn't good.
i would like to leave her, she has never been the kind of wife i wanted.
anyway the stress is getting to be to much, thinking about things all the time and its effecting my work as well as otherthings.
I had major anxiety problems. It felt like depression. I took a month's course of Clonazepam as needed. It helped me get a good night's sleep. After that I addressed my anxiety. Clonazepam helped me feel calm and in control. I haven't needed it since. But I will not hesitate to use it again if I can't pull it together.
when i read about bethel experiences my mind go to the show locked up raw!.
why would someone subject themselves to this without commeting a crime.. the wife and i went to see bethel in broklyn a few years ago and it was unlike anything i expected.
very cold.. went the bosert hotel and was talking to a brother there and asked how long he had been there, he said 25 years...i asked how old he was.
OTWO yep that's pretty much how it was/is at mealtime. I absolutely hate crowds and confined spaces. Breakfast and dinner (lunch) were very stressful for me. Too many people, too rushed, too cramped... I was always so happy to go out to eat at lunch or just go back to our room and unwind for a few minutes.
people like robin williams can make you laugh.
we might think that they have it all but we really know nothing about their demons, their problems, their issues.
someone might be funny on the outside but be totally depressed from within..
I've never thought anyone had it all.
We're all humans and subject to the same frailities.
don't know quite what to say.
just stunned at the news.
comic genius and actor.. share your favorite robin williams moments.. .
he'll be missed.
sorry, couldn't think of a better title for this post, without it being long.. i was thinking this morning,if ex-jws, who were born into the group less likely to join another religion after leaving.
vs. the witnesses who belonged to a church before joining the religion.. from my own prespective, being raised a witness,i have no intention of joining any religion.
and it seems that born-ins are less likely to join a religion after leaving the cult.. in my own experience,i think it's religious burn-out to tell the truth.
Both of us born-in. We will never join another religion. Ever.
i like so many americans left my parent's house as soon as i could (age 19).
i would see them maybe one or two times a year for the next ten years.
when i hit thirty and got married it was even less frequent.
The summer I turned 30 I was like, "WOW! 30?!! That happened fast..." Then when I turned 40 I said, "wait a cotton-picking minute, this is getting ridiculous!" rofl
Having been born and bred in the cult just makes the reality harder to accept. We left when we were 36. So we were able to salvage some youthful energy and learn how to live a sane and balanced life. It's reality. It happens to everyone who is lucky enough. Here's to 50+ more healthy years. We hope.
I think it helps alot to listen to those who are ahead of you and learn good coping skills. I feel peaceful about aging right now.

When you are deep in the cult, an opportunity to serve at Bethel is taken as a gift from Jehovah. I fell in love and served in Brooklyn when I swore I would never date a Bethelite. I've had family and friends in Bethel all of my life. A few are still there. It is a relatively high standard of living. 3 full meals a day. Housekeepers, laundry and dry cleaning services. Salon and barber services. Auto mechanics to repair your vehicle, carpentry and sewing personnel. Plus any extra money you have gets to be spent on vacations all around the world.
Add in the privileges of being a Bethelite among mere r&f publishers and it's a pretty high life. That's the upside of Bethel life.
I saw some treated disrespectfully from the moment they set foot on Bethel property. And for them it was a true hell hole.
The downfall is steep and swift when you wake up and/or are kicked out and must face reality.
That is pathetic and hilarious at the same time, ya know?
